Money Saving Tips

  • If you plan on visiting several historical sites it's worth getting the special ticket package (Full: €30, Reduced: €15). This ticket is valid for 5 days and is valid for the following sites: Acropolis of Athens, Ancient Agora of Athens, Archaeological Museum of Kerameikos, Archaeological Site of Lykeion, Hadrian's Library, Kerameikos, Museum of the Ancient Agora, North slope of Acropolis, Olympieio, Roman Agora of Athens, South Slope of Acropolis.
  • Stay in a cheaper area such as Omonia or Sarri – Although these areas are both slightly off the main tourist trail they offer lower prices and are still near to the city centre. Sarri will often suit younger travellers as there are many alternative bars and cafes, often covered with eyepopping street art.
  • Visit in the off-season – June and July are the busiest months and as such come with the highest prices. Visiting outside of these months will not only mean cooler weather but a smaller hole in your pocket.
  • Try the street food – Bagels, Falafel and Gryos (greek meat or vegetarian souvlaki wraps) can often be found for a few euros and are usually pretty good!
